The Doctor Is In - Addiction Recovery and Study Skepticism
Host Frank Speidel's Introduction: "On 13 January 2022, while listening to WHYY Morning Edition, I heard a report by NPR addiction correspondent Brian Mann. Mr. Mann related that Dr. John Kelly of Harvard and Mass General Hospital had published a peer reviewed "national study" that 75 % of those suffering with addiction went on to "get better." Now this report by Mann on Morning Edition contradicted both my anecdotal experience and my professional readings." This program's guest are Brenda Schivito, founder of Angels against Addiction, and James Salvery, director at Paramount Recovery Houses. Always defer to the guidance from your primary physician, local health department or the CDC.
